So who lives in a pineapple under the sea? If you said Spongebob Squarepants, you are right on the money.
With Activision recently buying out the publishing rights to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, they now have recently scooped up the publishing license of our favorite sea dweller, Spongebob Squarepants, per announced by Activision earlier last week.
The licensing rights for the games based on popular Nickelodeon TV shows like Spongebob Squarepants, The Fairly Oddparents and Nicktoons, were previously owned by THQ, who is also known for their non-Nickelodeon titles such as the Darksiders and Red Faction series.
This new global, multi-year agreement now allows Activision exclusive developing as well as publishing rights for any and all Spongebob games in development, starting with Spongebob Squarepants: Plankton’s Robotic Revenge. The game is currently in development with Naughty Bear developer Behaviour Interactive and will be a third-person co-op title, combining not only puzzle-solving skills, but also exploration all around good ol’ Bikini Bottom. The game is said to be release on October 22nd of this year for the Playstation 3, XBOX 360, Wii U, Wii, and the Nintendo DS and 3DS.
