If you haven’t checked out Hotline: Miami yet, I suggest you get yourself onto Steam pronto and get downloading what could be the most interesting indie release in years. Essentially a top down action game like the shooting parts of the early Grand Theft Auto games, the twitch action, graphical style and music really set it apart as something special.
If you have played the game however (or if you took my suggestion and went away to play it and come back of course) then you will I’m sure be delighted to know that a sequel is currently underway by original developers Dennaton Games. The announcement came via Twitter where Jonaton ‘Cactus’ Söderström, the creator of the game said, “Working while listening to the sweet tunes of a preliminary Hotline Miami 2 soundtrack that we’ve put together during the weekend.”
Further clarification via Twitter confirmed that the extra content was originally intended to be DLC, before it was fleshed out to a full sequel, and also that it may be a while before we see the fruits of Dennaton Game’s labor. Söderström added, “We’ve barely begun working on it though, still got things we need to patch with the first game, so that’s the main priority right now.” Still, that just gives everyone a chance to play through the first game again, right?
