The HMV GamesMaster’s Golden Joysticks Awards Return

Come On, Share It

Awarding those developers who put an unrivaled amount of effort to bring top-notch games to the gaming public, the HMV GamesMaster’s Golden Joysticks Awards have returned for its thirtieth year, longer than any other gaming industry award ceremony. The 2011 awards saw more than 2 million votes cast, across many different categories and looks to mirror that again this year.

Another year of big winners on the cards!

The nominations are what you would expect, the crème de la crème of the gaming industry with such titles as Skyrim, Mass Effect, Batman: Arkham City among many others. We will however also see some Indie games getting the recognition they deserve, with such titles as Journey, Triple Town and Fez up for gongs. The ceremony itself will take place on October 26th at Westminster Park Plaza hotel and will be hosted by my fellow Irishman, Ed Byrne, known for his eccentric comedic talent.

“Three long decades ago, ZX Spectrum classic Jetpac flew away with the Game of the Year honours in the first ever Golden Joystick Awards. So who’s going down in Joystick’s history this year, alongside previous winners like Outrun, GTA: Vice City, Modern Warfare and Portal 2? Only you have the power to decide,” said GamesMaster editor-in-chief Robin Always.

When not fighting crime, I dabble in the art of online journalism. Alright, maybe it's not as exciting as headbutting everyday felons like a modern Bruce Wayne, but I need something that doesn't involve bludgeoning something. Get my kicks playing on a fat 80gb PS3, really need an upgrade......and a shave.
