It’s that time of the month again when Call of Duty players for the PlayStation 3, who decided not to avail of Call of Duty: Elite, wait patiently for the release of the next Modern Warfare 3 Downloadable Content through the PlayStation Network. This time around it will be Content Collection 2 those eager beavers will get their hands on, with Infinity Ward stamping a June 21st release date on the DLC, announcing through their official Twitter account.

Content Collection 2 promises to change it up a bit, including two new face-off maps for the new face-off mode and two more Special Ops missions for us to warm up to. We can also expect the usual multiplayer maps, with three new killing grounds on offer. The Content Collection in full is:

Multiplayer Maps:

  • Sanctuary – Suspended in the air one thousand feet up, you’ll battle more than altitude in the towering sandstone monasteries of Central Greece. Formed over millions of years, this sanctuary’s natural rock pillars have repelled invading armies and withstood the ravages of time but now they’ll face your deployment.
  • Foundation – Journey into the heart of South Korea for a decommissioned concrete factory where the cement flows and bullets fly.
  • Oasis – Though once a picturesque escape for vacationers, the sprawling Hotel Oasis is now a Multiplayer paradise, with multiple lanes of combat built atop an ancient fortress.

Face-Off Maps:

  • Getaway – what once was a tropical beach getaway boasting exotic aquariums and oversized pools is now a haven for ruthless run-and-gun violence.
  • Lookout – Carved into a combat-weary mountainside, this new “Face Off” map pits you against your opposition in a forward observation base littered in chokepoints and tight corridors.

Special Ops Missions:

  • Ironclad – With one player helming a tank and the other escorting it on foot, you’ll clear beaches and take cover in plane wreckage as you escape Hamburg from behind enemy lines in this all-new Special Ops Mission.
  • Killswitch – An intense new Special Ops Mission that places your two-man team deep in enemy territory. Your mission – cripple a Russian carrier by detonating an Electromagnetic Pulse.

All this great content, along with the already released two free Face-Off maps, it shows Infinity Ward and Activision are being more the generous than ever. What is amazing is that we still have more to come, with the next batch of content revealed sometime next week for Xbox Elite subscribers.

If you decide to pre-order Content Collection 2, an exclusive free theme will be rewarded, be warned though, this offer stands until the day before release. The DLC bundle will be available to download from the PlayStation Network on June 21st for the price of $14.99. See all you crazy cats on the battlefield.

When not fighting crime, I dabble in the art of online journalism. Alright, maybe it's not as exciting as headbutting everyday felons like a modern Bruce Wayne, but I need something that doesn't involve bludgeoning something. Get my kicks playing on a fat 80gb PS3, really need an upgrade......and a shave.
