Sledgehammer Games is working on a new Call of Duty game according to a job listing found online at Activision’s website. According to the no longer available listing, the developer of Modern Warefare 3 is “actively recruiting top talent” to work for the CoD development team. Continuing on it said that a successful applicant would work “to create the most exceptional real-time effects with hyper realism for our next Call of Duty game”.
Formed in 2009 and owned by Activision, Sledgehammer was brought in to help complete Modern Warfare 3 that meant abandoning the 3rd person CoD game they were working on at the time. While the precise nature of this new game eludes us for now, we know for sure that it won’t be another Infinity Ward collaboration as Sledgehammer general manager Glen Schofield ruled it out in an interview with CVG last October.
“We needed to come together on this one, but since then we’ve both grown, we’re both over 100 people now, he said. “I think the best thing that could happen for Activision would be for us to both go off and make our own game. Whether that’s a Call of Duty game or not is up in the air. I plan to continue working on Call of Duty.”
So a new Sledgehammer game looks like it is on the way. Are you interested in what they could do after MW3 or will it be just another run-of-the-mill CoD game? Please leave your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.
