During a recent promotional event for Zone of the Enders HD collection in Japan, creator Hideo Kojima let slip to fans that a sequel for Zone of the Enders, dubbed “Enders Project”, is in early development. Only catch is the game is not yet a 100% green lit.
We first saw Zone of the Enders in 2001, which was then followed by Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner in 2003. During the event Kojima Productions announced the release date for Zone of the Enders HD Collection which will contain both games as October 25th for Japan, with an international date still to be announced. However, the news of the new sequel seemed to gain the most attention.
Kojima revealed that the “Enders Project” is in the early stages of planning, in what he called the “early prototyping phase”, which you can see from the concept art in the picture above. As of now the team at Kojima Productions are in the process of testing the new internal Fox Engine, taking aspects of the game and converting them into Fox engine assets.
Obviously we won’t see anything much about the project as it’s in the early stages. We don’t even know if the game will release on current generation consoles. It does have fans of the series excited however, with many of them crying out for a true sequel to Zone of the Enders. With the way things are shaping up in such a short period, they might just get it.
