Producer of Sonic Team, Takashi Iizuka, has confirmed in an interview with Digital Spy, that after the release of the second episode of Sonic 4 the developer has no further plans to release more installments. He said: “We are looking forward to hearing the feedback from the users for Episode 2, but we are currently not planning to release another episode, we just want to see how the users accept this episode.”
The first part was released at the end of 2010 to a fairly warm response by fans. It did seem slightly odd that the ‘back to basics’ approach was then subsequently taken by Sonic Generations less than 12 months later, and in an arguably stronger title all round.
Sonic 4: Episode II will be released on PSN, XBOX Live, PC and mobile formats later on this year, and will feature Tails as well as the Blue Blur himself. Are you planning on shelling out for the download, or will you be hanging on for a hoped for Sonic Generations 2?
