Codemasters has revealed a host of new features for F1 2011 which is the follow up the highly successful F1 2010 and the new features are likely to be highly appreciated by fans of the game. The multiplayer is first to be altered with up to 16 payers being catered for online with the remaining 8 grid places being taken up by the AI. In addition to all that, there is a spectator made which is designed for players who are waiting to race which makes the online presentation of F1 2010 looks pretty basic by comparison.
Offline multiplayer is also given a boost with two player splitscreen, and there’s now an option to play a full season with a teammate across both online and offline. Offline splitscreen multiplayer is not a widely used game feature anymore but I think game modes such as full season will entice players back to try splitscreen once again.
Codemasters isn’t finished with new features as A Race Director, accessed in the pause menu, which gives a rundown of the entire race field as well as where they all are on track and if any race incidents have occurred. I think this will be a key feature as it brings a strategic element to gameplay and allows players to better co-ordinate their races.
F1 2011 launches on September 23 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with a PlayStation Vita version launching soon after.
