According to a note by Citadel Securities analyst Shing Yin there are increasing indications that an iPhone will be coming to Sprint. One of the driving factors may be that with the death of Verizon’s unlimited data plan tomorrow , Sprint will be the only national carrier left with an unlimited data plan and that is something that apparently appeals to Apple. The iPhone is a notorious bandwidth hog and this has caused every other national carrier to drop their unlimited plans to reduce the strain on their network. Sprint’s unlimited plan could attract quite a few folks to change devices as they try to hold on to the last frontier of unlimited goodness.
The note goes on to say that if Apple did want to introduce an iPhone on Sprint’s network that they didn’t think that either Verizon or AT&T would contest or try to delay the move for legal reasons which were not mentioned. If it does happen, understandably Sprint would want the phone before Christmas and the analyst doesn’t see any reason why Apple wouldn’t oblige them.
So what do you think, should Apple go ahead and release a Sprint iPhone as well? Should they make it available the same time as the iPhone 5 for Verizon and AT&T?
