Well I suppose we should have expected this, Ubisoft has confirmed that Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will now be releasing some time in Q1 of 2012. Ghost Recon: Future Soldier was first mentioned way back in 2009 with the thought that it would reveal itself around the beginning of 2010. When that time rolled around, Ubi told us that the game had been pushed back to late 2010. When we got to that point, they said that they were now moving it into the first part of 2011. Now we have learned that the game won’t see the light of day until at least Q1 2012. For what its worth though, I understand the rationale and it makes sense. The end of this year is crowded with great shooters and it just doesn’t give Ubi the best opportunity to maximize profit on their investment by putting it out and competing with all these other titles that it probably can’t beat.
“It will be released in fiscal Q4 as we want first to have the best quality possible, as well as to avoid the very crowded Christmas landscape in the shooter genre,” Guillemot said. Shooters that are expected to arrive during the holiday quarter include a new Call of Duty game, Battlefield 3, Resistance 3, and Gears of War 3.
And that my friend is all they wrote.
