While everyone that grew up in the 90s remembers the original characters of Raiden, Sub-Zero, and Sonya Blade, two new challengers have been announced for the upcoming Mortal Kombat competition, and it’s not two that you would have seen at your local arcade. Wraith-fueled Spartan Kratos and time vacuuming cat Blinx both will join the cast in separate console builds (Kratos for PlayStation 3 owners, Blinx for Xbox 360) to give you the chance to cause pure chaos online against friends and foes alike.
The news came from the Twitter of David Jaffe, producer of the Twisted Metal series and then later confirmed by Official PlayStation Magazine. Jaffe, who was so excited about the news of Kratos being playable, had a working dialogue for several hours on Twitter with fans over what the potential fatality could be. “LOVE that Kratos is in the new MK,” Jaffe wrote on his Twitter account. “So bummed he’s not in the story portion. Heard about it from Ed at E3 this year and had to keep super mum on it but man, fucking LOVE it. He totally fits in that world.”
The latest issue of Official PlayStation Magazine hits your local shelves this week, while Mortal Kombat is set to release in April 2011. You can still however, go ahead and preorder your copy from retailers like your local GameStop in preparation.
