XS Games’ ‘The Red Star’ is now available for PSP/PSP Go and gamers can download it from the PlayStation network for $14.99. The game is based on a graphic novel by Christian Gossett and was originally released on the PlayStation 2 all the way back in 2007. ‘The Red Star’ skilfully blends together side-scrolling fast paced retro beat ‘em up gameplay with the action of a top-down shooter.

The game was fairly well received upon its original 2007 release

The game itself is set in mystical, technically advanced United Republics of the Red Star (URRS) and sees the once powerful empire now distorted into a dystopia which has millions of its own people slaughtered under the orders of Imbohl who is a corrupt sorcerer revered as the leader of the Great Revolution. The heroes of Red Star set out on a mission to liberate the URRS people from Imbohl’s rule and hopefully return the empire to its former glory.

Players can choose to play as either Maya Antares, a powerful Warkaster (sorcerer and human energy cannon) in search of her husband lost in battle, Kyuzo, Maya’s personal bodyguard and deadliest of all guardsman, or Makita, a quick and agile Nokgorkan rebel orphan.

‘The Red Star’ can currently be purchased on the PlayStation Network at the price of $14.99.

I'm a big gaming fan who has been playing games since ever since Pokemon Yellow was released in the year 2000. I'm just glad that there are decent rugby games on the PS3 now after years of nothing. I need another Uncharted game...NOW!!!!!
