The UFC® 2009 Undisputed demo is now available to download via PlayStation®Network entertainment system. In celebration of UFC® 97, held last weekend in Montreal, Quebec, the playable demo will allow players to sample an exhibition bout with former UFC® Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. The three-round demo contest depicts the renowned Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas while supporting 1-2 players. The demo will also include a portion of the game’s Tutorial Mode, which further educates players about UFC 2009 Undisputed’s unique gameplay controls, as well as the sport of mixed martial arts.
This is gonna hurt.
UFC 2009 Undisputed will have a fairly deep roster of more than 80 top fighters from across all five weight classes. In addition, they will enter the Octagon surrounded by the sport’s renowned announcer, commentators, referees, trainers, Octagon Girls and more. Photorealistic models are at the forefront, as players will view amazing ripple effects across the faces and bodies of their fighters from the impact of devastating punches and kicks.
I have to commend THQ for releasing such a complete demo, it contains a lot of great content and the tutorials are ample and straightforward and from what I can tell you will need them. The controls aren’t hard, they are very responsive but there are a lot of them and they are comprehensive, so if you want to be a brutal master of the octagon you are going to have to study. The character models aren’t as good as say a Smackdown, but they are very good and the game captures the energy of UFC, the whole time you are playing you are just wondering when and if a knockout will come and they do. I played the demo several times over and each time I saw something I hadn’t seen before. Download it immediately and work on your skills because on the 19th there is going to be some serious pain inflicted, so don’t run into me online :)
The game uses brand new fighting game engine designed specifically for next generation systems that is supposed to deliver an innovative, responsive and easy-to-play control system that gives unparalleled command of fighters, as players take down opponents with a variety of mixed martial arts disciplines, including Muay Thai, Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The game’s Create-a-Fighter system will jumpstart the careers of future champions through character customization. In addition, UFC 2009 Undisputed lets players revisit key moments in UFC history and attempt to recreate the matchups through a Classic Fights Mode. Furthermore, players will be able to enhance their gameplay experience through online support, including downloadable content. Undisputed is scheduled to hit stores on May 19, 2009.
