You heard us, the Crysis 2 PS3 demo has been suffering from some serious connection issues, not to mention the problems that people have had just trying to download the thing. We actually managed to download it and while we experienced the connection problems too we did manage to get in a dozen or so games, we will post our impressions of that a little later on. Anyway, EA said in a short statement on the Crysis 2 blog that the demo will be closing within the next 24 hours so that they could focus on making sure the final product is “flawless” at launch. Yeah right. Check EA’s short statement from their website:
Thank you for your interest in the PlayStation 3 version of the Crysis 2 multiplayer demo. Though many gamers have had a great experience playing the demo, we are aware that others have been experiencing server connection delays. We’ve identified the root cause and have decided to close the PS3 demo in the next 24 hours to ensure all issues are resolved when the game launches next week. Our priority is to ensure that the final product is flawless at launch.
So they make PS3 gamers wait till only a few days before the game actually releases, then they release a demo that has some serious flaws, then they cancel that demo after one day because of those flaws. There had to be real reasons why the PS3 demo was delayed so long in the first place and if their were issues then they shouldn’t have released a demo pre-launch at all. This whole situation won’t be good for sales, I mean people will still buy it of course its Crysis 2 but I bet some people will think twice.
Are you one of those people, does EA shutting down the Crysis 2 MP demo after only a day because of poor performance cause you to rethink making this a Day 1 pickup? How about all of you that had issues downloading or getting to the demo, what do you think about all this? Sound off in our discussion forum about this on our community site.
