Awesome. The inFamous demo that was made available on the PSN yesterday, 5/21, is bar none the best demo I have played to date. Now I will admit, that while I thought that inFamous would be good I had no idea that it would be this good. The demo gives you a little taste of everything, you get to experience both sides of the fence. In inFamous, based on your decisions you can either become a hero or you can become evil. Based on those decisions NPC’s will react differently to you, your electrical powers will change colors (blue=good, red=bad), even your physical appearance will change. The game offers a huge open world where almost everything is interactive or destructible.
The demo is out, get it on PSN!!
When the demo starts, you get a shortened explanation of what got Cole to where he is and then the fun begins. You get to play through several missions, some as Hero Cole and some as Evil Cole. While you are technically the same character, both sides have different sets of powers. The controls are smooth and intuitive, and there is really nowhere you can’t go especially using Cole’s superb climbing skills. Whether you are gliding from building to building or sliding across power lines almost nothing is impossible so try it. The real fun ensues when you get to use Cole’s devastatingly effective electrical powers to completely destroy your enemies. While what Cole can do as far as using his powers as a weapon are cool, I actually found all the other things he could do with his powers even cooler.
For instance, when you are wreaking havoc both enemies and regular people can be injured. There is a certain amount of time where they are severely injured but they are not dead. If its a civilian you have the option to Bio-Leech which means feed off the electrical energy in their body (this kills them), restrain them, or heal them. With enemies its either leech or restrain. This brings up a good point that while Cole does possess As you can imagine what you do to enemies doesn’t really matter but how you treat civilians will have a major affect on how your story progresses. Now honestly, there isn’t really any reason to have to leech off of humans because there are plenty of electrical sources and enemies for you to draw from. Now who’s to say what you might be forced to do later in the game, but understand that no deed goes unpunished.
The inFamous demo does exactly what it is supposed to do and that is make people even more excited about the game’s release and probably make some people who hadn’t had it on their radar take notice and if you can do that with a demo then you have accomplished your mission. So stop reading this post and go download the inFamous Demo today!!
