Realizing that few will understand the Rumble in the Jungle reference, EA announced today at the Studio Showcase, the fifth installment in the Fight Night franchise, Fight Night Champion. Promising to deliver the most realistic and most immersive fighting experience to date, EA is pushing the visual boundaries with the upcoming title and redefining the single player category for the title belt.
Boasting an upgraded and advanced physics-based animation system, the game will incorporate improved locomotion, stamina, and punching mechanics. What that really means is…if your character needs to block an oncoming punch, it could potentially throw off the rest of their body, giving the opponent the ability to give them the final 1-2 knockout to finish the match. In addition to redesigned mechanics, an all-new control scheme, dubbed Full Spectrum Punch Control, Fight Night Champion will deliver the most realistic punching system ever seen in a simulation fighting game.
While this may frighten off the newcomers, EA is assuring us that Fight Night Champion will be the most user-friendly to date, allowing everyone from the amateur boxer to the heavyweight to step into the ring to rumble. While the game is heading to only the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 systems in the early 2011, you can expect to ear more from them leading up to the first round before then.
