Sony only touched upon PlayStation Now during their E3 conference this year, but the details they did share continue to get people excited about the upcoming service. Sony mentioned that around 100 titles would be playable on Now from the outset, with more being added as the service matures. Pricing still hasn’t been fixed however, with a variety of rental options being considered between the price point of $2.99 and $19.99. Most gamers are still hoping for a Netflix-type ‘all you can eat’ subscription deal, along the lines of a PlayStation Plus Plus type thing, with Sony saying that is a possibility for the future.
By far the most exciting part of the PlayStation Now news that Sony shared however was that the open beta would start on July 31st, for lucky users in North America. At first PS4 will be the only place you can access the game streaming goodness, but later in the year Sony promised it will expand to PS3, Vita, the upcoming PlayStation TV, and also select Sony Smart TV’s.
