Respawn Confirms Snipers For Titanfall, But No Quickscoping Thank Goodness

So while folks have been excited for Titanfall for a long time, personally I’ve been withholding my excitement until more concrete info about gameplay was fleshed out. I’ve never had any doubt that the folks at Respawn could deliver a high quality shooter, I was just concerned that it would be more of the same. While I still have a lot of questions about the game, they really peaked my interest with the revelation with respect to how snipers will work in the game.

So first off it was big news that snipers would actually be included in the game, so there’s that. But to me, the bigger news came when a Respawn representative confirmed that while the game would feature snipers, “quickscoping and no scoping are ineffective”. Hallelujah!! So to the delight of many FPS fans, a triple A shooter developer has finally taken a stand and are removing a ridiculously unrealistic and overused cheat. Yes, I’m calling quickscoping and no scoping cheating, I don’t care that the game “allows” it. The truth is that we all know that it’s not true to life and has no business in games like this. I’m actually a fan of having a sniper class, but for the benefits that one shot is usually a killer, there has to be a balance that keeps players from exploiting it the way they do in most popular shooters these days.

Now for the big question? How will Respawn actually pull this off? At this point, it’s not clear. Whatever the method, the fact that Titanfall players won’t have to deal with this annoying tactic is a welcome relief.
