Mini consoles are becoming all the rage recently, with the Ouya now available in the wild, and Sony getting in on the act recently by announcing the PlayStation Vita TV. One of the most interesting devices for gamers has been the Gamestick however, and that device has now been given a worldwide release date. Tuesday October 29th is the day you can mark in your calendar if you want to pick up one of these beauties, and a partnership with GameStop, GAME and Amazon means you should be able to get hold of one no matter where you live.
After being announced in January, the console from PlayJam has moved from paper to production in just 9 months, following a successful Kickstarter campaign. It will retail at $79.99 in the US, £79.99 in the UK and €79.99 in the rest of Europe – another great example of the current exchange rate in action!
Kickstarter backers will still receive their units ahead of the retail launch, at the end of this month if everything goes to plan with the launch. So did any of you guys support the Gamestick through Kickstarter? Even if you didn’t, will you be looking to pick one up in October? Is an android-based mini-console even relevant any more?
