Blizzard recently announced an expansion pack for Diablo 3 entitled Reaper of Souls and while it may only be heading to the PC at this present time, Blizzard has not ruled out taking it to consoles at some point although they did not commit to anything yet. Diablo 3 director Josh Mosqueira has hinted that Blizzard’s history with consoles suggests that a console port of the Reaper Souls expansion pack is inevitable.
Josh Mosqueira was speaking in an interview with Polygon and said that while a port for consoles may be inevitable, no announcements are forthcoming:
“Our philosophy has always been we work on one project at a time.”
“We’ve got Diablo 3 on PC, we released it and then a small team splintered off to work on Diablo for the current consoles. Now the team’s really focused on Reaper of Souls for PC.”
“So if you look at the past, you can probably infer what the future might bring. We don’t have any announcements at this point.”
Diablo 3 is available on Mac and PC with the Reaper of Souls expansion pack arriving next year. It is heading to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September, with a PS4 release expected in 2014.
