The Dead Island series may be getting a third instalment at some point in the future, Deep Silver creative director Guido Eickmeyer has hinted during a Reddit AMA yesterday. When asked if there would be any more games coming in the Dead Island series, Guido Eickmeyer replied, “I would not expect the series to stop at this point.” The most recent Dead Island game was Riptide, which was released for Windows PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 a few months back in April.
Eickmeyer went on to explain that a third Dead Island game would be a non-linear experience and that the setting hasn’t been decided yet:
“I would say that exploration in an open-world game is key to being fun. Size is not the only answer here as not every gamer would like to have a Day Z kind of experience, but you want to feel being part of a world, not a linear corridor of events.”
“[Hawaii]…would be awesome. I can only ask you to wait a bit further, then some really nice things will be revealed about the future of Dead Island.”
Hopefully we will hear about a third Dead Island game but until then, fans could check out Dead Island: Epidemic, a free-to-play MOBA game set in the same universe as the main games.
