Alice: Otherlands Kickstarter A Success!

Things were looking very grim for Alice: Otherlands in the last couple days of its Kickstarter. While I wasn’t super interested in the project because I would prefer a game, I’m still a huge fan of McGee’s work. I could be remembering this wrong, but I don’t think Alice: Otherlands was even at the halfway mark to its goal with just two days left. What I know for sure is that I was scared it wouldn’t succeed. Now I can rejoice!

The Alice: Otherlands Kickstarter was focused on getting American McGee’s film rights for Alice. If you haven’t been paying much alice7attention, it has nothing to do with a third Alice game unfortunately. But American and Spicy Horse are still negotiating with EA for the license so they can create a third Alice. The good news is how many incredible people will be working on the Otherlands project with McGee. A music artist that has worked with Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson. An awesome director/producer/writer who’s famous in Hong Kong for his films such as Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame! So many big names joining up with McGee will no doubt make these short films mind-blowingly incredible. It’s time to celebrate and anticipate!

Even though the Kickstarter has met its goal, you can still donate towards the project if you wish through Paypal. Going over the original goal permits the creation of a series of animated short films, with larger animated series possibilities now available as well as development work on a feature film and potentially larger funding options for a larger-scale feature film in the future.

Pre-production on the digital shorts will begin right away with a scheduled launch date of December 2014.
