Red Dead Redemption fans every where may have something to celebrate in the near future as Take-Two Interactive has recently outlined their future franchise goals. This could be nothing, but then again it could be everything. During a recent financial call, Take-Two Interactive discussed that they are going to focus more on franchises going forward and increase the production schedule in order to provide more games under a franchise more frequently.
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick put it this way, “Our competitors’ view is that our franchise will have a certain life, and at the end of that life, you move onto the next thing, so you better make hay while the sun shines. Our view is to the contrary. The best franchises are permanent franchises.”
He continued, “So I think in certain instances, we’d like to see releases paced a little more closely together. I don’t really think next-gen is going to change the production approach sufficiently that, that will be the difference that makes the difference.”
Things have been a little quiet lately on the Red Dead Redemption front in terms of future content or even on a full-up spiritual successor and/or sequel. However, with a new focus on franchises, Take-Two Interactive may just be lining up this title IP for a return that would solidify it in their portfolio along with Grand Theft Auto and other titles. With GTA V in the can and coming to the masses soon, keep your ear to the ground for future Red Dead Redemption news.
