Monster Hunter continues to be one of the biggest gaming franchises in the land of its creation, but despite versions of the game being released on Wii U and 3DS in the west recently, it has yet to find the massive fan base in the West that it attracts in Japan.
What a lot of people don’t realize, is that as well as the traditional monster-slaying titles such as Monster Hunter 3 and 4, there was also an MMO in the series released back in 2007, bizarrely for Xbox 360 and PC only. Called Monster Hunter Frontier, that game has recently received an update to become Monster Hunter Frontier G2, and this version of the game will be ported to both PS3 and Wii U, becoming simply Monster Hunter Frontier G.
Despite playing the same as the Xbox and PC versions of the game, Capcom has promised dedicated servers for the new console ports, and the Wii U game will support both the Game Pad and Pro controllers.
The game will launch as a free download with a monthly subscription on November 20th for PS3 and December 11th on Wii U.
