The DICE reboot of Star Wars: Battlefront is surely going to be one awesome game but sadly we won’t be getting to play it any time soon as EA revealed today that the game is due sometime during the summer of 2015. The news was delivered as part of an EA stockholders call yesterday where the noted video game publisher also stated that the Battlefront game will be the first of its many Star Wars titles to be released as part of its deal with Disney that was made earlier this year.
Blake Jorgensen, the CFO for Electronic Arts, explained about the release date for the game and what type of game it will be:
“We have partnered with Walt Disney and LucasFilm to develop a whole new generation of Star Wars games for the console as well as for mobile and handheld devices. The first game that we’re focused on is Battlefront. It’s a traditional game that’s done extremely well and this will most likely come out around the same time as the Star Wars movies start to come out, probably in the summer of ’15.”
So it looks like it will be a long time before we finally get our hands on a new Star Wars: Battlefront game but hopefully the final product will be worth it. Other Star Wars games are also in development by Visceral Games (best known for Dead Space) and BioWare, who have previous history with Star Wars with the Knights of the Old Republic and The Old Republic games.
