In part one of a series of developer diaries for Splinter Cell Blacklist’s Spies Vs. Mercs we witness some 4v4 multiplayer action as we follow the Spy team and learn the way spies are meant to be played. Spies Vs. Mercs is “faster paced” in Blacklist. Below are some key notes of what we learn from this video, in case you don’t have the time to watch it yet.
In Spies Vs. Mercs, spies play in third-person while mercs play in first-person modes. Obviously the Spy team will focus on stealth while the Mercs are built for killing and apparently can destroy Spies pretty quick if they catch them in the open. While Mercs seem to be able to destroy Spies quickly, Spies are certainly not defenseless. They can turn invisible for a short time with the Predator loadout, and they can access areas that are not available to the Mercs; if I understood that correctly anyways. Spies aren’t focused on damage, but they do have a vicious Death From Above attack. The Hacker on the Spy’s team primary goal is to stay alive and hidden while hacking is in process for this particular multiplayer mission.
There is a pretty awesome melee attack near the end of the video followed shortly by a Death From Above. Pretty cool stuff.
