The PlayStation Vita is home to a wide variety of different types of games. From big budget traditional videogames like Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Killzone: Mercenary, to indy titles and smaller PlayStation Mobile releases. It also plays host on occasion to games that have made it big on iOS and Android, that suit the Vita’s powerful hardware and touch screen very well.
The latest game to be announced in this vein is Real Boxing, an Unreal Engine 3 powered sports game created by Vivid Games. The game allows you to create your own boxer, and take him on a Rocky Balboa-style campaign through increasingly difficult championships, using the touch screen to deliver an Infinity Blade style experience.
I am currently playing through Real Boxing on the iPad and it is certainly fun, with excellent graphics. If you are a fan of timing and swipe based gameplay then you should have a blast with it, although the pricing difference between the iOS version at $0.99 and the Vita port at $9.99 means that sadly it may only appeal to those gamers without an iOS or Android device, a shrinking population nowadays. Real Boxing should be a welcome addition to the Vita library regardless however, and will be released through the PSN store on August 27th.
