Saints Row IV Denied Release Again In Australia

Saints Row IV was initially refused classification in Australia by the Australian Classification Board but the game was submitted for re-appraisal last week with the hope that this time it will make it through. Unfortunately, the game has again been denied classification so gamers in Australia will be unable to buy the game. Kotaku has posted a quote from the board explaining why the have denied the game again:

“In the Review Board’s opinion, Saints Row IV could not be accommodated within the R 18+ classification as drug use related to incentives and rewards is not permitted.”

What version of the game will eventually be released in Australia?

The game was previously denied release because of an alien anal probe weapon that the board deemed to be a little too close to sexual assault, in addition to the drug use. It must be noted that Deep Silver and Volition Inc. are working on a “safe” version that will remove the various offending articles and hopefully meet with approval from the Australian Classification Board. Hopefully they won’t change the game too much otherwise it won’t be the same experience that the rest of the world will be getting.

Were you looking forward to Saints Row IV in Australia? Will you bother getting a “safe” version of the game? Please let us know in the comments below.

I'm a big gaming fan who has been playing games since ever since Pokemon Yellow was released in the year 2000. I'm just glad that there are decent rugby games on the PS3 now after years of nothing. I need another Uncharted game...NOW!!!!!
