The upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront is highly anticipated by a ridiculous number of people ever since ‘that’ teaser trailer was shown at E3 this year and apparently good progress is being made on the title. EA Labels president Frank Gibeau talked about the game during Electronic Arts’ recent FY14 Q1 earnings call where he also revealed some interesting information about the retaining of a certain feature from past Battlefront games.
Frank Gibeau talked about the fans reaction, the development of Battlefront and EA’s “shooter rotation”:
“We showed 22 seconds of where we’re going with it and the fan response was very positive. The DICE team is well into development on that product already, so we feel very bullish about our shooter rotation over the next several years.”
Now onto one of the retained features from previous Battlefront games. Gibeau confirmed that the game ”has a third-person component to it,” which means that it is a hybrid of First Person Shooter and Third Person Shooter. I’m sure that comes as a relief to those who worried that they may be restricted to a FPS view due to DICE’s history in that genre.
Star Wars: Battlefront doesn’t have a release date but we will let you know that information when we have it. The game is powered by the Frostbite 3 engine.
