PlayStation Plus August Round-Up

PlayStation Plus continues to be the biggest bargain in the gaming world, and this month is no exception, although Europe seems to be getting the better deal again overall. Without further ado, here are the new titles that you will be downloading and playing throughout the remainder of July and August.

Jet Set Radio is the latest game to be offered through the Instant Game Collection for North American PS3 owners and is currently available to download through the PSN store for free if you are a subscriber. In addition to this freebie, Datura is also being offered at a 50% discount for PS+ members. Sony has promised an update next week on the next game to be offered for free, so let us know below if there is any title in particular you are hoping for.

Meanwhile, European PS3 owners have already been treated to a full list of new titles for August. Three pretty impressive full-price games will be available from July 31st, with headliner Need for Speed: Most Wanted (a game only released before christmas last year) joining Spec Ops: The Line and Mafia II rounding out an impressive month. Looking at the Vita side of the offerings things are a little more disappointing, with the average Lego Lord of the Rings and When Vikings Attack! forming your portable freebies for August.

Of course new games added to the Instant Game Collection means some are also removed, so if you plan on downloading Battlefield 3, Catherine, Malicious, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus or Unit 13 you had better get to it before the end of the month.

I'm a UK based gamer, as well as being more obsessed with video games and Doctor Who that any adult has a right to be. I keep telling myself I will grow up one day, but certainly not if I can help it.
