Tribes: Ascend Is So Polished, It’s Not Getting Any More Updates

That’s the idea I’m getting anyways. Hi-Rez Studios has no plans for working on anymore updates for their free-to-play FPS Tribes: Ascend. It’s in a situation where the game is already good enough for them to focus more on polishing up one of their other free-to-play games, Smite.

While no more major updates are planned, they still hope to finish fixing up a few bugs that exist and maybe even getting a few more maps out that were already in the works, but no promises have been made. However, they will continue hosting community live-streaming events and tournaments with prizes. They’re even bringing Tribes to offline events like recent RTX (I have no idea what that is) and upcoming QuakeCon.

Hi-Rez Studios is looking toward the future with plans for a sequel to another free-to-play game of theirs: Global Agenda, and even a sequel to Tribes: Ascend. Todd Harris, Boss of Hi-Rez, specifically wanted to make sure players know that TA2 is not already in the works. However, he wasn’t as specific to mention the same for Global Agenda 2. Is that on the way? So this isn’t necessarily bad news. I think it’s pretty cool. But I also haven’t played Tribes since Closed Beta and I have no idea if I would think it needs more updating or not at this point.
