Today, Nintendo has released the latest version of the Wii U’s system software (version 3.1.0), which apparently offers improvements to the overall stability of the system as well as refining the standby functions of the console. Polygon is also reporting that according to release notes, the next system update of note will be on its way to Wii U owners by early October and is reported to be a very “substantial update”.

The next update is due in early October. Hopefully it won’t be late.

Returning to the update released today, Nintendo’s support website states that the Wii U’s standby functions now “regularly connect to the Internet when the Wii U is powered down to check for available SpotPass data or software and system updates.” Nintendo also confirms that the software updates install while the console is powered down whereas the system updates are installed when the Wii U is powered on.

I'm a big gaming fan who has been playing games since ever since Pokemon Yellow was released in the year 2000. I'm just glad that there are decent rugby games on the PS3 now after years of nothing. I need another Uncharted game...NOW!!!!!
