Microsoft has commenced inviting Xbox Live members worldwide to partake in the public beta for its 2013 Xbox Live Update for the Xbox 360. Should you wish to join the beta, users must look for an Xbox Beta Program tile that can be found on the home hub of the Xbox dashboard. The update itself contains the ability to use local currency in transactions because Microsoft is abandoning use of its MS Points system and there will also be improvements to overall performance.

Use of local currency is a new feature of this update

The director of programming for Xbox Live, Larry Hryb a.k.a. Major Nelson explained the situation:

“Unlike our previous beta programs, sign up is now accessed directly through your Xbox 360 console to streamline the experience. Space is limited, so once the spots are filled the beta will be closed to the public.”

It must be noted that in order to participate, users must agree to a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) due to confidentiality reasons and at some point Microsoft will be posting more information on the subject in a Beta FAQ that can be found here. Are you going to participate in the beta? Please let us know in the comments below.

I'm a big gaming fan who has been playing games since ever since Pokemon Yellow was released in the year 2000. I'm just glad that there are decent rugby games on the PS3 now after years of nothing. I need another Uncharted game...NOW!!!!!
