Before the crazy launch fever for the PS4 and Xbox One set in this holiday season, gamers have one last massive multi-platform title to look forward to – Grand Theft Auto V. Hotly anticipated ever since the last game was released what feels like a lifetime ago, the new title promises heist action west-coast style, and also an 8GB hard drive installation, based on the latest reports.
Eurogamer has spotted the rather important piece of information regarding the sizeable hard drive space needed to install and play the game. On PlayStation 3, the game will come on a single Blu Ray disc, but will still require an 8GB installation before playing. For Xbox 360, however, the game will come on two DVDs, one for installing and one for playing.
This means that owners of the ‘budget’ Xbox 360 model, coming with only 4GBor 8GBof flash memory, will need to purchase some kind of external storage solution, as will owners of the original ‘Arcade’ model of the console, which needed a memory card for any kind of game storage.
If using a USB flash drive it must be at least USB 2.0 with a minimum 15MB/s read speed and formatted for Xbox 360 use. A new USB flash drive is recommended to ensure optimum performance.
Are you an Xbox 360 owner with no hard drive? Indeed do you know of any who would be purchasing this game? At least the next generation of consoles will all pack a 500GB minimum hard drive and a blu-ray drive, all but eliminating the possibility of this kind of thing happening again.
