Many game series have seen reboots along the years, perhaps the most well-known being Tomb Raider. Another platform title whose roots stretch back even further however is the Prince of Persia series. Prince of Persia started life as a simplistic but impressive side scrolling platform game, back in the early days of the Commodore Amiga and Atari ST. Console ports followed, and then a string of decent sequels in the mid-2000’s in the vein of God of War. The Prince has been less successful this console generation, with only the rebooted (again) Prince of Persia in 2008, and Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands in 2010.
If you thought that was the end of the story then think again, as a recent update on the official Prince of Persia fan page on Facebook has hinted there may be another title in the works, and we may get to hear about it soon.
The update itself states “Get ready for some news about Prince of Persia, starting next week.” Whilst it seems strange to announce a new title (presumably for next-gen consoles), so soon after E3 we are holding out some hope that we do get to see the first details of a new game, and not some shoddy Facebook title or something. Of course it is equally as likely that the news refers to the oft-rumored movie, or even an iOS title – more news as soon as we get it.
