The HD version of Halo: Combat Evolved was released ten years after the original version made its debut and was well received by critics and fans alike. This began fans wondering about whether they would one day see a HD version of Halo 2 but after the showing of an Xbox One Halo teaser video at E3 this year mean that some of them concluded that it wouldn’t be happening next year. Well Microsoft Game Studios vice president Phil Spencer says to not give up hope just yet as they are open to the idea of it.
Speaking in an interview with IGN, Spencer talked about the possibility of a HD version of Halo 2:
“I’ll be open. We have discussions about it. It’s more about the right time and making sure that we really would do the right thing for the franchise. The Halo Anniversary that we did was as much about the launch of the first Xbox as well. It was a culmination of many things coming together. It would probably run out of steam if we were trying to think about, ‘Okay, what’s 10 years old now?’”
So we could see a HD remake of Halo 2 next year but it is not going to be done just because it ties in with an anniversary of the game. Would you want to see Halo 2 in HD next year or would you prefer it if Microsoft focused on the present? Please let us know in the comments below.
