One downside of Sony’s E3 2013 conference was that online play on the PS4 is now of part of PlayStation Plus, which means that, you can’t play your games online for free anymore. This came as worrying news to those who used a PS3 due to the absence of the need to pay for online gaming. However, it has been revealed that some games can be played without a PlayStation Plus with the two games DC Universe Online and PlanetSide 2 being given as examples.
The PS4 version of DC Universe Online will also be cross-compatible with the PC version of the game but unfortunately the PS3 will remain locked to its own platform due to the differences in hardware. PlanetSide 2 will also be unavailable for cross-play between the PS4 and PC platforms but we think that the fact that you can play the game for free is good enough news anyway.
Are you pleased that some games will remain free-to-play? Are you excited by the prospect of cross-compatible gaming between the PS4 and PC in DCUO? Please tell us what you think in the comments below.
