Despite only being shown to the world via a brief, 29-second teaser trailer at E3 this week, Star Wars: Battlefront could arguably be called one of the most talked-about games of the whole show. So talk turned to who was going to be developing the game which will be published by EA who gained the rights in May of this year to make Star Wars games for consoles and PC. Most people presumed the DICE studio in Los Angeles would be handling it but it is actually the core team in Stockholm who are taking charge.

This was the one game I was hoping would be announced at E3 this year

Patrick Söderlund, the executive VP of the EA Games label, in an interview with CVG at E3, confirmed that Battlefield executive producer Patrick Bach and DICE general manager Karl-Magnus Troedsson were very keen to develop a Battlefront game. “They (Bach and Troedsson) were just like, ‘we would kill to make this game’ and the whole studio started talking about it like, ‘please give us this game’”. Söderlund continued: “These are experienced DICE people in Sweden building this game–it’s being built in Stockholm.”

Fans have been demanding a new Star Wars: Battlefront game for years and the DICE team in Stockholm is well equipped for the job and up for the challenge. What do you want from the new Battlefront game? Please leave your suggestions in the comments below.

I'm a big gaming fan who has been playing games since ever since Pokemon Yellow was released in the year 2000. I'm just glad that there are decent rugby games on the PS3 now after years of nothing. I need another Uncharted game...NOW!!!!!
