Ubisoft Motion Pictures has announced that they are collaborating with Warner Bros. Pictures and Michael Bay the award-winning director of blockbusters, including “Armageddon,” “Pearl Harbor” and “Transformers” on development of a feature film based on Tom Clancy’s™ Ghost Recon. There have been rumors that Ubisoft was looking to develop a Ghost Recon film for a while now and of course Assassin’s Creed should be well into development by now. The franchise definitely provides enough raw material for an engrossing feature film but we have to be honest in the fact that no movie based on a video game has really done well or been particularly good, though Hitman was actually quite good. A Ghost Recon movie could be another winner if handled properly.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon is one of Ubisoft’s best-selling video game franchises, with more than 24 million copies sold. The Ghosts are untraceable soldiers who are part of the Group for Specialized Tactics, a Special Mission Unit under the direct command of the Joint Special Operations Command, the elite of the modern US Special Forces.  Also, Ubisoft recently released a live action short film called Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Alpha as a complementary experience to Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier™.
