Grand Theft Auto V is not appearing on the next-generation of consoles and this will not harm sales of the game according to the CEO of Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnick. This is good news for those who have been searching for a reason to retain their current-generation consoles. However, it is a blow for those who were hoping to see the latest in the Grand Theft Auto series make an appearance on the PS4 and Xbox One as playing the game via backwards compatibility is not an option they can take.
In the interview conducted with MCV, Zelnick reasons that Grand Theft Auto fans have been waiting patiently for the latest game in the series and the large install base of current-generation consoles, around 120 million at this point, should see a large demand for the title. He also states that he expects the demand to be high regardless of when the next-generation consoles are released which is looking to be not long after the release of the game.
Grand Theft Auto V is said to contain the largest, most dynamic and most diverse open world created by Rockstar Games and is released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on September 17th.
