Our anticipation levels for The Last Of Us are steadily rising, following on from the brilliant demo released last week, leading up to the games release on June 14th. The latest piece of info to surface has been a detailed breakdown of the multiplayer component, something which Naughty Dog have previously avoided speaking about.
The multiplayer mode shown off is called Factions, and sees players choosing between the Hunters and the Fireflies. Both are clan groups trying to survive in the post-apocalyptic world the game is set in. There are separate modes within Factions, both of which are focused around the aim of keeping your team alive and foraging for supplies to keep everyone alive and healthy. In Supply Raid, your team has 20 reinforcements, and as each player dies they eat into that supply until finally there is no one left and sudden death applies. Survivors on the other hand has absolutely no re-spawns, and is a tension filled battle for survival.
Teamwork and strategy will play a big role in the game apparently, as will the crafting of items that plays such a big part in the single-player experience. Although multiplayer wont be the main focus of The Last Of Us, just like Uncharted 3 before it, it should offer a fun way to extend the life of the game, and should appeal to many fans.
