First Infamous: Second Son Details Revealed

Infamous: Second Son looks likely to be one of the big hits of the PS4 launch. So far only seen as an extended CGI cut-scene, Game Informer magazine has obtained plenty of information about the forthcoming open world game.

The star of Infamous: Second Son is Delsin Rowe, a 24 year-old of Native American descent. Delsin finds out that he is a conduit, and unlike Cole’s control of electricity, Delsin seems to have power over smoke. That may sound a bit lame when compared to McGrath’s lightning shock attacks and electric grenades, but rest assured that Sucker Punch’s new hero will have some killer moves at his disposal. You can actually absorb the smoke from the environment somehow using the DualShock 4’s mysterious touch pad. In addition to this ability, Delsin will wield a chain-like melee weapon and learn new powers as the game progresses.

As we’ve already seen, the game is confirmed to be set in a real life city for the first time in the series; Seattle. Sucker Punch also decided [inFAMOUS 2 SPOILER ALERT] that the ‘good’ ending to Infamous 2 is canon, therefore Cole is dead after saving the world in his previous adventure. Second Son is set seven years later, where the government has set up an organisation called the Department of Unified Protection to hunt down any remaining conduits.

Infamous: Second Son seems to have taken the brave decision of taking the core of the previous games in the series and changing them to fit partly as a sequel and partly as a new start for a new console – in a similar way to how Killzone: Shadow Fall seems to be set up. We should see plenty more of the game in action at E3 in just a few short weeks, when the lid is well and truly lifted on the next generation of console gaming.
