Anyone who was playing games back in the early 90’s will remember the agonizing wait that had to be endured before playing many of the top Japanese games. Import gaming was big business for those who wanted to try out the wonders of Super Mario World or A Link to the Past months (or sometimes years) before their friends. Thankfully nowadays things are much better, and worldwide launches are commonplace. One genre that still does see quite considerable delays however are Japanese RPG’s. Normally because of the massive amount of translation work needed, and a perceived lack of popularity in the west, we still find ourselves waiting for several promising titles.
One of the most requested of these delayed gems is Tales of Xillia, the 13th in the ‘Tales’ series of games, and one which was released in its native Japan nearly two years ago. Fans of the series can finally rejoice however, as Namco Bandai have announced a US release date of August 6th.
Releasing exclusively on PS3, the publisher have yet to release confirmation of a European date, however it has previously been announced that it will also see release in Europe. We can expect further announcements soon however, as Namco Bandai also confirmed that 2013 will be a “Tales of… filled year.” Could this also mean the sequel is bound for the west sooner rather than later?
