Gearbox has announced that the level cap in Borderlands 2 will be raised to 61 on April 2 via the Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack (included as part of the Season Pass). In addition to increasing the level cap from 50 to 61, the upcoming downloadable content pack will also unlock a third play through via the new Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode. The Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack will cost $4.99 (400 MS Points) for non-Season Pass owners. Players will be able to pick up a new tier of extremely rare loot: Pearlescent. Pearlescent gear is the rarest in the game. This is not the fourth and final add-on content campaign included in the Season Pass. The final campaign add-on will be released before the end of June 2013.

Ultimate Vault Hunters Mode is free and for all Borderlands 2 owners. Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode is unlocked for a character once they have completed the main story missions in True Vault Hunter Mode and reached Level 50. Unlike other playthroughs, Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode can be replayed multiple times with the players able to restart the campaign whenever they like. While playing in Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode, enemies and bosses will scale according to the player’s current level or, if playing with others, the highest level player in that party.
