Way back at E3 2011, Square Enix teased that Final Fantasy X would be getting an HD make-over, and ported to both the PS3 and Vita. Since that time the company has gone ominously quiet, to the extent that many people thought the project had been canned, or at least the Vita part of it.
Worry no more however Final Fantasy fans. Square Enix has now confirmed that the game will be seeing release on both formats later this year, with the spin-off Final Fantasy X-2 also being included on the Blu-Ray disc for the PS3 version. Vita owners will unfortunately have to buy both games separately, and it is currently unknown whether or not this will be reflected in the price.
“These games are classic fan-favorites, and we hope that new and old Final Fantasy fans can experience the world of Spira and the story of Tidus and Yuna in a brand-new light with these remastered editions,” said X and X-2 producer Yoshinori Kitase.
There will be a full trailer released on Monday, but for now rejoice that along with Kingdom Hearts, two Square classics from the early 2000’s will be seeing an HD release this year. At the moment both releases look like PlayStation exclusives as well.
