Unless you’ve been under a rock or something, you’re aware that Google and Apple are number 1 and number 2 in the smartphone market, and have been dominating that market for some time now. As the chart below will show, this wasn’t the case a few years ago. Just in 2005, the market was proportionately shared by Palm, RIM, Windows Mobile, and Symbian. However, with the launch of the iPhone in 2007 and Android in 2009, the others have seemingly disappeared.
