Dual Shock 3 Won’t Work With The PS4, PlayStation Move Does Though

Come On, Share It

So we found out that PS3 games won’t work with the PS4, now we’ve found out that the current DualShock 3 controller won’t work with it either. According to Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Worldwide Studios, the PS4 doesn’t support the PS3′s Dual Shock controller. In a terrible twist of irony, the original PlayStation Move does. It’s ironic because the DualShock 4 has the PlayStation Move capability built in meaning that you won’t really need the old unit.

From a technical perspective this isn’t surprising given all the optimizations that have been made to the DualShock 4, but as a consumer it is disappointing. I know that the world of two player local multiplayer is dying but if you are one of those people that still do it then you’ll need to buy an additional controller. While I don’t personally do a lot of local multiplayer, I do own multiple controllers since some games are much more demanding on your controller.
