In addition to the upcoming Killzone: Mercenary, another Vita game that Sony has high hopes for is Tearaway, from Media Molecule. As you would expect from the makers of Little Big Planet, this is a title with a childlike sense of wonder and some damn adorable graphics. A new trailer and additional details have now been released to help us all get excited about the adventures of Iota and Atoi.
The new trailer released by Sony introduces the world of Sogport, which is just one of the stops the little paper delivery boy must explore on his way to make an urgent drop-off (he is a paper envelope you see – obviously!). This particular world is inhabited by all manner of marine and pirate life, all brought to life using the games unique graphic style. Sea-shanty type songs also help to develop the very particular sense of place.
Tearaway is an open-world type game that uses your fingers to interact with the world which is all constructed from paper. It seems like an interesting concept and the screens and trailers we have seen all look lovely. No release date for this one yet although we would expect it to form part of the Vita’s resurgence around September/October time to tie in with Killzone: Mercenary. Keep watching this space for more info.
