As this console generation draws to a close, and the technology powering our favorite machines becomes ever more long in the tooth, we have grown used to PC versions of multi-platform titles performing significantly better. In the last couple of years you only need to look at titles like Skyrim, Sleeping Dogs and Battlefield 3 to see that console games now lack that additional ‘wow’ factor that DX11 effects offer the PC.
One developer however who has actually gone out of their way to tell us that the PC version of their game WONT be any better is Visceral Games, discussing Dead Space 3. They say it isn’t because they couldn’t be bothered putting the extra work in for the PC game however, it’s because they want every gamer to experience the third installment in the Dead Space trilogy in the same way.
The game’s producer Steve Papoustis told ShackNews; “We continue to evolve our games as we develop them, but we certainly don’t target PC as something that’s going to be significantly different. We aren’t trying to create disparity in the experience that our gamers enjoy; we want to make sure everyone’s having that same experience.”At our studio we’ve always made console games,” he explained. “The biggest thing is we want to make sure the quality of the experience is consistent across all platforms so we don’t have one user base saying it’s better on their system.”
So what do you guys think, are you buying that excuse? Will you be getting the game on console anyway or were you looking forward to a gorgeous PC version? Let us know below.
