After a move that only they understand, 2K Sports is finally releasing the All-Star Weekend content for NBA 2K13 as DLC for those that didn’t pick it up as a pre-order bonus. The content should be available on both XBLA and PSN at some point today and will retail for $5. It will include the All-Star Game, Slam Dunk Contest, 3 Point Shootout, and Rising Stars Challenge. Once downloaded those events also become part of Association and MyCareer modes. So for all of you that didn’t have it and got entered in the slam dunk contest or 3 point shootout and wondered why it skipped over it, now you know.nba-2k13-logos-2

It’s not uncommon for preorder content to be delayed in terms of its release as DLC due to exclusivity windows in order to realize the value of the pre-order for folks. Those windows usually run between a month and a half to two months, no one knows why 2K Sports decided to hold it for over 3 months. It’s also not clear why they decided to release the content now, one could argue that they could have generated more buzz by waiting until closer to the real All-Star break. At least that way they could have benefited from that buzz, as it stands now it just kind of drops with little to no fanfare. At $5 it won’t break anyone but they could have definitely handled this better.

So have any of you been waiting for this all this time? Are you going to pick it up? If you do decide to pick it up, please come back and hit up the comments to let us know what you think of it.
